A recent Forbes article highlights research that shows #emotionalintelligence will be the number 1 leadership skill for 2024. Incredible! You may already know what it is or how important it is. But how does emotional intelligence help us? One big area I encourage leaders to focus on is stress management and their well-being. Adaptability and optimism are such key traits for leaders to have and to give to their teams . Our decision-making is a huge area for leadership because neuroscience shows us that we first respond to something emotionally, before we respond logically. Impulse control, problem-solving and reasoning are so important. One other big area to focus on is assertiveness and how we express our emotions both publicly and privately. Be confident in your approach, be aware of your emotions and be yourself. This wheel is a great place to begin thinking about how you can grow your emotional intelligence skills this year.
